Returning to work after an injury can be a learning process for both the employee and the employer. With proper training, this process can be smooth and effective. Helping the injured employee feel good, and allowing work to resume safely is our goal. Work conditioning is ideal for injured workers who reach a plateau in acute rehabilitation but continue to have difficulty with the physical demands required for work. Full-body, intensive strengthening and conditioning, functional work-related tasks, and body mechanics training are provided by occupational therapy staff to restore the worker’s ability to safely return to full duty work.

As defined by the American Physical Therapy Association, work hardening is “a highly structured, goal-oriented, individualized intervention program designed to return the patient/client to work. Work Hardening programs, which are multidisciplinary in nature, use real or simulated work activities designed to restore physical, behavioral, and vocational functions. Work Hardening addresses the issues of productivity, safety, physical tolerances, and worker behaviors.”

When an injury threatens your ability to work and earn a living, it can throw your whole life off balance. But when you trust your therapy to Ivy Rehab, you can trust we will get you back to work as quickly as possible.

We have developed a unique “return to work” program that goes beyond standard worker’s comp procedures, featuring a work-hardening gym that mimics a patient’s actual work environment. Standard therapy gets you to a certain point, but that’s not the same as preparing you for the exact motion or stress you’ll face on the job.

Our Work Conditioning program offers customized, work-related, highly-structured, goal-oriented treatment, specifically designed to restore your ability to perform your job. Our therapist has the necessary knowledge and experience to deliver better work-related therapy outcomes, faster. When you choose Ivy Rehab, you can expect a safe transition back to work and the education to prevent re-injury.
