About Matthew Macina, PT, DPT
Matthew is deeply committed to ensuring each patient feels understood and empowered to achieve their goals. With his calming and enthusiastic demeanor, he prioritizes creating a nurturing environment for everyone he treats. His treatment approach emphasizes functional recovery through manual therapies and strength training, complemented by proactive care strategies.
Currently, Matthew is broadening his expertise to specialize in Oncology Rehabilitation, which encompasses breast cancer rehabilitation and lymphedema treatment. He earned his certification as a Lymphedema Therapist in 2024.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Matthew is an avid long-distance runner with an impressive record of completing over 20 half-marathons and four marathons. He leverages this running expertise, along with gait analyses, to assist his athlete patients in their return to running and sports.
Matthew earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Binghamton University and went on to achieve his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The CUNY Graduate Center – The College of Staten Island in 2015. His passion for physical therapy was ignited through his own sports experiences, having played ice hockey and lacrosse in high school and club lacrosse in college. Currently, he’s gearing up for his next race.
