Giving Back to the Next Generation

At Ivy, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive by having easy access to the tools and resources needed to learn and develop.

Not all students have access to the resources that can help foster an interest in STEM education or to a curriculum that allows them to excel. To counter this, affordable computers with coding tutorials are a great way of engaging youth in new and exciting ways.

Ivy Rehab Directors and Leaders took part in a corporate social responsibility experience to help bring the power of coding to children, supported by The Orlando After School All-Stars and other organizations across the country. Their efforts resulted in a generous donation of 50 personalized coding computers, complete with screen, keyboard, trackpad, and pre-installed coding tutorials for Orlando After School All-Stars and 44 additional computers for other organizations near Ivy Rehab hubs.

“There was something very special about the giving activity at the Director’s Summit,” said Dave Colville, Chief Information Officer. “Not only was it a great team-building activity where leaders from across the organization got to work closely with each other in a lighthearted and fun atmosphere, but they were also working toward a common goal of helping a great cause in an area that I am personally passionate about, building STEM capabilities in our younger generations. It was like making a collective investment in our future.”

The program selected was called “Scavenger Hunt – Computers 4 Kids Edition”, which aims to provide STEM education and coding resources to local youth. Computers were delivered to local beneficiaries in regions where the top-scoring teams are located!
